So...I got bored last night.......Aaaaaand I made this: The new DAGear Mk 3 Muzzle Brake for 5.56mm/.223 in chromoly steel. It would be easy as pie to modify the design for airsoft. Just make it 14x1 threaded instead of 1/2x28 and open the bore up to accomoate 6mm airsoft and make it out of aluminum.

I wish I knew someone who could mill/CNC anything that I created in SolidWorks. Custom RIS and flash hiders would be pretty legit.

Maj. Scott, have you put any thought into how the pressure from the barrel would disapate though the vents in the brake and reduce the recoil of the rifle? Most of the brakes out there are at least marginally designed to maximize the recoil reduction by venting the pressure out and away from the barrel quickly (or at least they're supposed to). Its a pretty cool design, but I usually prefer the oval brakes more. Are you planning on bringing it into production?

Most design software has a real time testing procedure to show how pressures would affect the project. I design shit all the time in Inventor, solidworks, and catia. Currently doing a 3d model on a new AR/PTW receiver

Yeah I'm aware, that's why I was wondering. I use CAD software all the time as well.

Yeah, Dahm. I ran it through. The main vents are angled up at a 45 deg angle to reduce muzzle climb and are angled to the rear slightly to reduce felt recoil. I have a prototype of this this design minus the rearward angle and the lower vents and it is a dramtic improvement over a standard birdcage. There's also a pre-chamber before the vents for the initial blast that helps to reduce the recoil impulse. It's amazing to me how just a little thing like that can increase accuracy so much.

That sounds pretty legitimate. Good work.

I assume its of similar design function to the 5.56 one above?

Can these be made for airsoft weapons?

Unbeknownst to a lot of airsofters, the real steel Kalishnakov family of rifles generally have a 14mm LH threaded barrel. So, since I designed that for an AK, yes, it can be used on an airsoft rifle w/ a 14mm LH threaded barrel.

I enjoy flash-hiders with lots of stabby bits. Well done.
Don't fuck with the six-one.
